The #Bartel College football team took down #1 Arizona State University 42-7 to take a 1-0 lead over #2 UCLA.
The #BARTel team has been on a tear and has been playing at a high level in all competitions over the last month.
In this game, #1 UCLA was a much different team from the ones that had played against #1 San Jose State earlier in the week.
#Bartels defense had their hands full trying to hold off #1, as they allowed a total of just 14 points on the night.
While #2 had a much easier time of it, the #2 defense struggled to get stops in the red zone.
After a few quick scoring drives, UCLA finally broke through to take the lead on a touchdown pass to #4 Trey Parker.
However, a field goal attempt by #4 would be blocked by #2.
This lead would be the last one for #2 for the rest of the night, as UCLA would win the game 23-20.
As a team, the UCLA defense gave up 3 sacks, but held the #1 offense to just 4 points on 12 plays.
That’s a lot of points for a defense that only allowed 5 points on their first seven drives of the game.
Despite that, #2’s defense was able to stop #1’s offense.
It’s difficult to know what exactly happened on those drives, but I’m going to assume that #2 just decided to start playing faster and give the #3 defense more room to breathe, so that’s what they did.
With that, the Bruins offense scored 3 unanswered touchdowns.
They went for a 14-0 run on the first play of the second half, but UCLA could not get into the end zone.#2 was able on a few of those scoring drives to get the ball back for a score, but #1 was able with some good field position and some timely stops.
At the end of the half, #3 was able give #2 a chance to score a touchdown, but the Bruins would only manage to score 2 points.
One of the things I like about this game is that UCLA was able find success against Arizona State.
When they did, the Rams defense was extremely good at stopping the offense, but when they weren’t, UCLA struggled.
So I’m sure the UCLA offense is very hungry to get back to playing at their top form and this game definitely shows that.
Overall, I was very impressed with how the #6 and #7 defenses played this game.
#6 allowed just two sacks and a few QB hits, while #7 did a solid job in limiting #1 to just five points on 13 plays.
#7 allowed just one sack, but also only had 2 QB hits on the evening.
I also like that #6 was able a touchdown run late in the second quarter and that #7 was able three of the four times UCLA was in a scoring position.
Again, it’s hard to know exactly what happened, but from what I saw on film, it looked like the #7 defense did well to stop the #5 offense and also kept #1 from scoring.
For the first time in their season, the Los Angeles Rams have a chance at beating UCLA.
If they can get that second half going and the offense is able to put together a great second half tonight, then I think UCLA can pull out a win.
If UCLA can stay healthy, this game will be a huge win for the #12 team.
What do you think of the #13 team’s performance in this game?
Do you think they have the talent to take on #1?
